The moment that stayed with me was looking up from the zip line platform and seeing a family of howler monkeys directly overhead, no more than eight metres away, completely indifferent to us. They were eating mangoes. We were waiting to launch. This is what makes Congo Trail different from other canopy experiences, the wildlife is simply there, living its life, and you happen to be passing through it. The extreme cables at the end are genuinely thrilling. Superman position, eyes open, the whole forest below. A perfect morning.

We added the ATV option and I am very glad we did. After fourteen cables through the forest you understand the landscape from above. Two hours on the ATV through the same forest gives you the ground-level version, the roots, the undergrowth, the mud, the clearings. Together they are a complete picture. Our guide knew the trails and knew exactly which routes to take for the best experience. Back before lunch, dirty in the most satisfying way possible. Plus is the right choice for anyone with energy to spend.

Our twelve-year-old daughter had been asking for a zip line experience for months. We found Congo Trail and booked Classic. She did all fourteen cables including Superman and the Tarzan Swing without hesitation and then asked if we could do it again. The white-faced monkeys were a complete surprise, they were right there, curious and watching. Our guide was brilliant with her, encouraging but never pushy. She said it was the best day of her life. We said it probably was ours too. What a morning.
